We have a black & white theme this week & I've been itching to use this canvas for quite a while now so I've gone for a mixed media project. Woodware stock a wide variety of quality artists box canvases from Royal Talens but this one is a flat canvas & came from my cupboard of curiosities where it has been languishing for a while.
I started by giving the canvas a coat of white gesso & when it was dry I glued on the Chippies. I gave the whole thing another coat of gesso & left it to dry  thoroughly. I then took the Bloom mask & spread the black gesso quite thickly over it. I left this to dry overnight as there are some very thick areas which give great texture. Next I took the 2 Doobadoo masks & using a stencil brush I applied some "Stone" Crafters ink to form a random background over the canvas & the Chippies too. "Love Collage" & the letters are stamped onto some white tissue paper, torn around the edges & then applied to the canvas with PVA glue. I glued the burlap trim onto the corner of the canvas & this was given the white gesso treatment too. I die cut the leaves from some black card & then passed them all through an embossing folder to give some texture.  As a finishing touch I gave some areas a light touch of the Metallic Wax Patina & the metal rose came from an old necklace. I'm really pleased with the result  & enjoyed putting this together.

It's sketch challenge time again & I'm using one of the new season's Woodware stamps designed by Jane Gill. Who doesn't love a pair of glamorous shoes like these but I must admit that wearing a pair of heels like those now fills me with dread. To think I'd used to quite happily teach for 6 hours at a time in 4 inchers!! Happy days! But I digress! To create my design I printed the image 3 times, twice on the silver pearl card & once on purple. I then cut out the whole image to use as the base from the silver card & parts of the shoes from both colours. The main part of the shoe (which I've dotted with the Lavender Stickles) I passed through a dotty embossing folder to give some texture. Then simply piece the shoe parts together & glue in place. I've attached the image to the background using some 3D foam pads to give some dimension. The background of the design is made up of the paper  from the Perfect Prints pad & the pink card which has been printed with one of the 3 sentiments which come with the stamp set. Another of the sentiments has been printed onto the purple punched circle & layered onto the silver punched circle. To finish I've added dots of the various Stickles & the Mark Richards Elements.

This week's theme had me somewhat perplexed as I wasn't quite sure what a "wrap around" card really meant. Well here's my interpretation of one! I've taken a 12 x 12 piece of card & cut in half before scoring to make two 6 x 6  cards. Next I've cut diagonally across each front but in opposite directions (you'll see what I mean from the photos below). I've decorated with the Perfect Prints papers which in turn have been stamped with "Dotty Flowers" in darker shades of green inks. I also stamped the flowers across the back of the card. the sentiment comes from "You Are" & I've punched each butterfly from the printed paper & the plain green card too. I've cut a slit in the bottom right hand corner for the corner of the left front to slot into to hold it closed. To finish I've added the Elements to the butterflies.

The team is featuring summer birthdays this week & I've designed this with a very special lady in mind!  The card blank is round for this one but I can't take the credit I bought it that way!! I've die cut a large circle from flat white card & after giving it a good wipe with an anti stat bag I've embossed "Wire Roses" with the gold powder. After that I gently sponged some summery colours from my inkpads & or course the embossing resisted the inks.I did add some water spots to the sponging to create a more interesting effect.  When dry I've added some colour to the roses with the Koi pens. To finish I've mounted onto a die cut circle of purple card & attached to the card blank. Now add a triple organza bow, the sentiment & some Elements.

We're wishing "Good Luck" to someone this week & what better way then to make them feel they're a star!! I've had to feed my paper piecing addiction this time (haven't done any for ages!) & I've used the very versatile Perfect Prints sets again. You know how it goes, printed onto the various colour papers, cut out & re attach onto the base print. I've mounted onto black card & then onto one of the papers from Bold Stars. Now add the sentiment which is one of the "Tiddlers" & some peel off stars for good measure. I've added some shading to the letters with the Koi pen & a bit of glitz with the Stickles.

Colour blocking is a technique I really like & if you look at my blog from time to time you may remember I featured in my Thursday demo at Liberty Craft Exmouth a few weeks ago. I've die cut 2 different sized circles from Stix2 "Mount  n' Stamp Foam". This is a product generally used for mounting unmounted rubber stamps but it's great for making your own stamps using dies. I've inked up the circles using the Colorbox inks & then stamped the Bubble bloom over the top. Now this technique works well for silhouette stamps generally but if you have a suitable stamp, as we have here, you can create your own. I've simply filled in all the image with the black Koi pen. To finish mount onto black card before attaching to the card blank. Now add some Elements &  some black Stickles to the "bubbles".

We're joining the ladies at crafty cardmakers again this month for their regular challenge & this time it's the shabby chic or distressed look. I've chosen a DL card blank & cut away the top right hand corner which has then been scuffed & rolled over. I've used one of the vintage look papers from the Perfect Prints pad for the front & the sentiment comes from one of the always useful "Tiddlers" sets "Life's Not measured". To create the shabby chic look I've added the burlap trim, s/a lace, paper flowers & s/a pearls. I found this one lone skeleton leaf in my treasures & had forgotten how nice they are to use, think I'll have to hunt down some more!!
Why not pop over to crafty cardmakers to see what their design team members have come up with & maybe play along- you never know you could win a prize!!
