We're "By the Sea" this week & a chance to use this lovely stamp by Francoise Read but give it a totally different look to when I used it for "Boys Toys" a few weeks ago. I've used Woodware's craft canvas for a more rustic feel & given it a colour wash with some inks from inkpads sploshed onto a messy mat. When completely dry (I gave it a helping hand with a heat gun cos I'm impatient that way!) I stamped with Vintage Sepia. I've added some soft colouring with pencils. As you will see I've made the card blank so that it will stand or hang portrait orientation. I've added some eyelets to the navy layer & inserted some twine so that the card can become a wall hanging too. The shell embellishments were made with the silicone mould & a hot glue gun. When the glue had cooled enough to pop out of the mould I dusted the shell with some Metallic FX powders

A touch of sunshine- that's what we could all do with in this very iffy summer of ours isn't it? I just love this single gerbera stamp from Jane Gill so much so that I've masked & stamped it 3 times! I've used a handy Stix2 product for my masking (A4 masking sheet), it's got a low tack sticky backing so you can use your mask again & again. I've embossed my 3 flowers with the yellow powder from the set & then I flicked a range of Color Solutions inks around the flowers. When I was satisfied I coloured the flowers with Tombow pens. The sentiment (Something to Say) & the butterfly (borrowed from Stampendous "Build a Bouquet") have been stamped with Brilliance Black. Now you know it's law that all butterflies have to have the Stickles treatment  but I didn't want too much sparkle so that's why I chose the more muted Frosted Lace. I have sprinkled some chunky white powder in places & heated from below to add some highlights. I wanted to keep the watercolour effect so I chose not to trim the tear off edge from the pad. I'm really pleased with the result of this design hope you'll like it too.

It's monthly sketch challenge time again & this time I've gone for a mask. This is the lovely "Swirls" from Clear Scraps & I've flicked some paints through the mask, spritzed with water & finally absorbing some of the excess wetness with kitchen paper. I quite like the effect. The "ribbons" come from the Textura pad & to provide the sentiment I've used "Inspirational Verse" by Jane Gill. Very simple this month but I hope a colourful summery feel.

Another day, another make over!

I've been meaning to re do my wicker heart for a while now, it's been on my "to do" list. I think this latest make over will be it's last though! so this time I went for the beachy look I even went beach combing for the final touches. We have shells, drift wood, sea glass, tiny pearls &  some shabby blue seam binding. The Stix2 hot glue gun made it a doddle to assemble I'm getting quite addicted to it!!

Here's how it looked in previous lives!

It's time for the monthly designer challenge & last but not least it's my turn. My theme is "Inspired by Nature" & of course being a keen gardener nature to me at this time of year means flowers, flowers & more flowers. Summer is the time for vibrant, hot colours; reds, oranges & yellows. I've used the Stampendous "Build a Bouquet" trio of stamps & dies & the "Pop up" die set which can be used with other die sets too. This set comes with comprehensive instructions as to how to construct your pop up so it couldn't be easier.
I've water coloured  the stamped & die cut flowers, leaves & butterflies with Tombow pens  I've chosen the Magenta paper which just has all those gorgeous  colours so it's perfect for the background. The sentiments come from "Something to Say" both on the inside & outside of the card & I've finished off with some Copper Nailheads. Can't wait to see what the others come up with during the week.

Stix2 demo day at Liberty Craft

It was my first demo day for Stix2 & Woodware as the official South West demonstrator & hosted today at Liberty Craft Exmouth. I've had a great day & a lot of support from our local crafty ladies- thanks girls. The morning was really busy although I did have to compete with a certain tennis tournament this afternoon!!

Here are the photos of the day & the cards produced. All card blanks are from the range by Stix2.
