I must admit that when I  saw this particular theme it had me scratching my head. White...White what? Wedding? Rabbits? Heather? Embossing? Embossing!! It's amazing how hard it is to keep everything white & still come up with a pleasing design. I started by cutting an inch strip from the right hand front of the card blank & embossing a flourish from the Silhouette Songbirds set all over it. I stamped the Paris stamp onto a piece of vellum & embossed with Shabby White powder from the Frantage range. I have added some dry embossing to the back of this piece using a ball tool. I just had to mount this onto black card to show it off & I've held the vellum in place with white brads at each corner. Now simply go mad with your embellishments! I've pleated a piece of folded  organza ribbon & secured with the pin. The paper flowers have also been give the Frantage treatment & I've surrounded them with pearls. The Crafty Edger has been used to create a border for the edge of the cut side of the card, the cut out piece is laid on top & finished with the Liquid Pearls.

Here's another take on the same theme.

April Crafty Cardmakers Challenge

We are pleased to be playing along with the Crafty Card Makers this week, the challenge will be open on their blog for two weeks. If you would like to play along with us please check the Crafty Card Maker rules then use the link on the Crafty Card Makers Blog to add your card or if you are not a blogger yet you can e-mail your card to Dorothy as usual Dorothy@woodware.co.uk and she will post it and add it to the Crafty Card Makers Blog

This week we're teaming up with Crafty Card Makers & I'm first to kick off the challenge for a gift bag & matching tag.
 Here's my design

And here's what I have used;-
Stampendous Jumbo cling "Cottage Rose"
Woodware craft gift bag
Tombow pens
Woodware Doilies
Versafine Onyx Black
Brown, olive & ivory organza ribbon
Frantage Teastain mica flakes
Woodware S/A lace
Buttons
Glossy Accents
A luggage label
All available from :-
www.woodware.co.uk

I had a great time with this I just went wild with the stamping & the Tombows just worked so well on the craft paper. The sides of the bag were stamped with the flourish that accompanies the rose stamp. For the tag I just used a normal luggage label stamped with the flourish  & added a decoupaged rose which has been given a gloss finish with the Glossy Accents. Then go mad with mica flakes, buttons & ribbon. I've shrivelled  the ribbon with a heat gun to give it a curl & covered the handles of the bag with brown ribbon too.

Here's the tag

We're working with vellum this week which can give you some lovely delicate results but can also present it's challenges too. I've featured one of the new season's Stampendous stamps "Nasturtium" which has a glorious summer feel to it. I've stamped twice on the vellum using Brilliance & we come to the first thing to consider when using vellum, choose your inkpad wisely as not all will dry on it & those that do will take a little longer perhaps. I have coloured on the reverse of the image as this gives a more subtle effect & have given a little dry embossing to highlight & sculpt. Cut out just the flowers & mount onto the main image. As this has been coloured you can just get away with a little DSAfoam tape to attach the flowers which brings us to the second challenge which vellum presents. It's impossible to find a tape, glue whatever, that will stick vellum without showing (even those that promise they will won't- they lie!!) so now you cheat by attaching with brads, hiding your chosen sticking method with ribbon or folding around your card. I have chosen this method & I've wrapped the whole piece around a piece of ivory card before mounting onto a brown layer.
The torn corner was embossed with my Cuttlebug using a metal Dreamweaver embossing stencil which was then sponged to highlight the embossing.
The card blank started off as a 6 x 6   square but I've folded the bottom to secure the torn corner. As you will notice I've used the stamp to stamp the bottom card border now just add raffia & Copper Nailheads to finish.

Gosh aren't the months rolling past already & here we are at another sketch challenge week. A second outing for Stampendous  Pansy patch which I used in the January challenge. I have stamped with my old friend Versafine Onyx Black 3 times & then I have chosen 3 different areas of the image to punch a circle using the 2" punch. I have coloured with Sakura pencils & given the pansies a lovely glossy finish using Glossy Accents. The card blank has been almost covered with a piece of the double sided Bremen paper & I have stamped one of the flowing "line" sentiments from the Thoughtful Wishes set along the right hand edge. I have also sponged the edges of the paper with a darker green just to add some contrast. Mount the pansy pieces, randomly off set, onto 3" punched circles of lime green card. To finish add some organza ribbon trimmed with the daisies & some lime Elements to the circles.

Here's this month's sketch why not play along!
