The theme this week is "Summer or Body Beautiful- Mixed Media". I've chosen "Summer" (there isn't anything beautiful about my body!!!)
I've chosen the Stampendous "Cottage Rose" which I have stamped onto a piece of card which I created a while back while I was playing with my Tombows & some rock salt. Lay down some colours from the pens onto a blending mat, spritz with water & press a piece of card onto it. While the colours are  still very wet sprinkle some rock salt  (or table salt) on top & leave to dry- you'll get some great random results.
After printing the rose I did some Zentangle designs onto some of the petals & parts of the leaves. This gave the rose a tattooed effect I thought. The words come from "Just Right For You" a great stamp set to suit any occasion & for scrapbooking too. I then covered the whole piece with crystal powder & heated to give a glazed sparkly effect.
The card blank was completely covered with a piece of lime card which I had stencilled using the Jungle Leaves & Brilliance inkpads.
To finish attach the rose to the card blank, add  some of the "Clusters" & some dots of Stickles to the Zentangling.

Purple Nailheads

We have another challenge for you this week in the form of Woodware's monthly sketch. Earlier this week I was playing around with my Tombows  & a blending mat. Just lay down some colour from the pens on your blending mat, spritz with water & press a piece of card down onto it giving it a wiggle to move the colours around. Now sprinkle some rock or table salt over some patches & leave to thoroughly dry. You get some great random results & the discarded coloured salt is useful for shaker cards- just store in a jar!
So I've used a piece of my salty card & printed the Skinny Vase onto it with Brilliance. The colouring was also done with Tombows  & highlighted with Stardust Stickles. The "Happy Birthday" sentiment at the top is one of the lovely fine greetings which comes with the vase set. I've used Jane Gill's "Just Right For You" for the  panel & as the name suggests this great set has a sentiment which is just right for everyone.  As you can see I've stamped the little butterfly & coloured & cut it out to add to the greeting. I've added the finishing touches with some purple Nailheads.
Here's the sketch why not enter this month's challenge.

Our July Retailer is Linda who runs LLinda’s Craft Shop in Laneham, North Nottinghamshire. LLinda’s is a shop full of inspiration and with regular paper crafting workshops. Linda is one of the talented bunch that qualified as Certified Dreamweaver Teachers earlier in the year. Llinda’s Blog will give you a glimpse of the goings on in the shop. You can find workshop details, directions and much much more on LLinda’s Website. As this is an important year of remembrance the theme that Linda has chosen is The Poppy….as we remember

This week's challenge takes me right back to Mallorca again as the island is awash with poppies in May & I just adore the sight of them. Here's my take on the theme & for it I have used Francoise Read's "Field of Poppies". I started by doing some "direct to paper" onto a piece of flat white card with some chalk inkpads & then stamped over this using Brilliance Graphite Black. I also stamped onto one of the lovely pages from the Perfect Prints pad & cut the poppies out. I coloured the rest of the image with my trusty Tombows before cutting out & layering onto black & red card. I then attached to the card blank & stamped the sentiment at the bottom. I gave the poppies some sculpting before sticking them to the image using some 3D foam pads. I gave them a nice glossy finish with Glossy Accents & set aside to dry.To finish I added some ribbon & the Ladybugs, lastly some tiny dots of black Stickles at the centres of the poppies.

Be sure to pop over to Llinda's blog & website to see what she's been up to.... oh, you could leave me a comment too, please!!!

These "Card in a Box" designs are all the rage at the moment & featured everywhere you turn so we just had to try them didn't we? Now before I start I'm absolutely useless at describing how to produce anything "mechanical" so I'm going to give you a link which will point you to a very useful tutorial if you don't already know how to make the basic shape.

I know I cheated but if I'd tried to guide you through it you'd be just as wise at the end & scratching your head & saying "Eh?" So...!

As you can see I started by covering the lower panels under the flaps of the box with some stencilled card mounted onto a darker contrasting paper from the Textura pad . I passed the  Dreamweaver stencil through my Cuttlebug  (lightly spray the card with surgical spirit first, you'll get a much crisper result! Honest!!) I then brushed the embossed card with ink from the Memento pad in all 4 directions (the Embossed Strie method).

Next I placed all the peel offs onto some cream linen card & coloured with pencils. I love the texture you get from linen card & pencils. Now cut out all the pieces & mount the tall glasses onto the flaps which I covered with pink paper.  Add the peel off words, cherries & hearts. Stamp the sentiment onto cream card & add the 4th tall glass before attaching to the back of the box. The banana splits were mounted onto strips off acetate before arranging in the inside of the box. The punched balloons were given a little shape with a mat & Character Shaper before mounting among the desserts in  the same way. To finish add some Glossy Accents to the cherries, highlighted some areas with Sakura pens & added some punched hearts for good measure. Throw in a couple of straws- Knickbocker Glories all round!!

A closer look at the top of the box
Just to prove that it will fold flat & a look at the stencilled panels

Here's a look at the beautiful creation that my friend Jan (Jaaponicajan) made for a gardening friends 70th birthday last week. Isn't it gorgeous?!
