I've just just come back from the second Stix2 & Woodware training day of this year buzzing with all the new ideas & products which I can't wait to share with all you all. Can't wait to get started on my new season of demos in September so here's a taste of the new things that all the demonstrators will be doing.
Firstly we'll be working a lot on canvases to produce fab mixed media designs with the great new fabric spray paints, Crafters inks & fabric markers  from Woodware, as well as  all the new stamps from Francoise Read & Jane Gill.
Then there's all the wonderful products from the Stix2 with heat range which work so well in conjunction with the new techniques. This is were the new Stix2 Craft & Mixed Media iron comes into it's own & becomes an invaluable tool for your craft room. The 2 different  adhesive sheets (for Various materials & for Delicates) lend themselves so well for use on canvas. Fear not! The canvas techniques can also be used for your card making too!

A few more samples from the recent Stix2 & Woodware training day & some I've been playing with since I got back.

Spring 2016

Here is a selection of samples I've been making since the brand new Stix2 products & Woodware stamps were launched a few weeks ago. Stix2 have introduced the new  Craft & Mixed Media Iron (S57360) to use in conjunction with the iron on adhesive sheets for various materials (S57357)  & iron on adhesive sheets for delicate materials(S57256). I'm really excited with all the new products from Stix2 as they work so well with all the lovely Woodware stamps,Crafters inkpads & Bruynzeel fabric pens. As well as being great for baby clothes, bags, coasters & home decor, all the techniques are just as versatile for card making. Stix2 are also working along side Sizzix this year & I've used  some of the great Sizzix Big Z dies for the appliqué  work on these cushions.

This week we're going to wear our piece of art & with the gardening season fast approaching I just needed to have a new gardening t shirt! I've sort of used the paper piecing technique for this but using materials instead. I've printed with Daisy Patch by Francoise Read onto 3 different prints which have been fused onto the All Materials Adhesive sheet with the Stix2 Craft & Mixed Media iron. This stamp is great for the applique look as it has some faux stitching around the edges of the print. I then cut out different parts of the flowers, mixed them up & reformed them before ironing them onto the front of the t shirt.I have used Crafters ink to print which is great on fabric & once heat set can be safely washed. To finish off I've added some buttons for the centres of the flowers.

Happy Birthday Your Majesty

We were recently asked to say "Happy Birthday" to a very special lady, our Queen on her 90th birthday. Here's what I used to create a special card for a special lady.

Stix2 Products

8" x 8" white card blank
Pearl Misty Rose card
Pearl Oyster Shell card
Stardust Gold card

Woodware Products
FRS334 You Are

FRS607 Cutie Pie Vest
Corner punch
Stampendous Jewel gold embossing powder
1mm s/a pearls

Sizzix
Big Shot Plus
Tim Holtz "Word Play" alphabet die
Border die

The Stix2 pearl card range looks beautiful when embossed with an embossing folder which is what I've done with the pink panel. The gold bunting was made from the "waste" from the corner punch when used to create a border by removing the guard. The sentiment, which I think is very fitting for our long serving monarch, comes from "You Are" &  is stamped with Brilliance Graphite Black onto Pearl Oyster pearl card. This has been layered onto the Stardust Gold card.  I've borrowed the little crown icon from "Cutie Pie Vest" & embossed with Jewel Gold powder. I've used the Sizzix alphabet die to create the "90"from the gold card, also the border which comes from a Sizzix die. To finish I've added the tiny s/a pearls.

Stix2 "Create Your Own Craft Calendar"
Distress inks

This week we join the crafty ladies from The Mirror Crack'd for their challenge & this time we've been asked for a wall hanging. Well I'm creating my own calendar for next year so what better for a wall hanging? I started by taking a piece of 8" x 8" craft canvas & giving it a colour wash with shades of blue, green & brown ink pads. When this was thoroughly dry (I left it over night but you can speed things up with a heat gun- gently!) I stamped our lovely robin using Versafine black. I coloured with Sakura pens & then stamped the background using images from "Deck the Halls"  around the edges with the 2 shades of Versafine green. I masked the robin to stamp the groups of trees from "Kim's Coppice" behind it & the apt sentiment for a calendar also comes from this set. The leaves in the bottom right corner have been die cut with the Dreamweaver die & foiled. As I intend to use this design for my January page I have added some touches of Fluffy Stuff & Stardust Stickles for a wintry, frosty look. To finish I have layered onto dark brown card.

Here's how the calendar looks

February
Here's my page for February for the Stix2 calendar. With Valentine's day in mind I've used Woodware's "Bloomin Heart" which has been stamped onto a background created from Tombow brush markers & rock salt. I've also used the same pens to colour the flowers within the heart. For the larger background I've randomly printed with stamps from "Going Around in Circles" also from Woodware & Colorbox dye inkpads. For the embellishments I've dropped some blobs of hot glue onto a craft sheet using the Stix2 hot melt gun gun & then stamped into the glue while still hot with the stamps from "Going Around in Circles". Leave the stamp in the glue until it has started to cool & set & then it can be removed quite easily with no harm done to the stamp. To colour the embellishments I've dusted them with a selection of Metallic FX powders from Dreamweaver.

March
Here we are at the 1st March already! Here's my March calendar page & for this one I've used Stix2A4 Clear Printable Acetate (S57183) as an overlay for my layout. It's just great in your inkjet printer & enables you to add any sentiment, image or photo. I've taken a piece of Stix2 A4 Pearl White Ice card & brayered it with Colorbox dye inkpads from Woodware. I've stamped the frog (Woodware's FRS172 Hoppy Frog) onto the background & then paper pieced him with papers from the Perfect Prints dotty pads. The circles come from Woodware's "Going Around in Circles" By Jane Gill. To attach the acetate to the background I've used Woodware's "Flower Ribbon"  brads & added some knots of organza ribbon in spring colours. Spring is just around the corner!

April
It's the first of the month again & time for another page from the Stix2 2016 calendar. I started by taking a piece of Stix2 pink gingham card & printing all over with Woodware's  "Ripped Lace"  with Colorbox dye inkpad "Guava" & words from "Just Right For You" (JGCL574). The flowers are from Woodware's "Doodle Daisies" (FRS293) & coloured with Sakura Koi waterbrush pens.  I used Stix2's Masking sheet to build up my flower arrangement & I stamped the centre flower onto Stix2's Sparkly S/A acetate.

May
I've been working on my Stix2 calendar for 2016 & with my love for the "Curly Sue" stamp from Woodware I came up with this bright summery look for May. I've made the main background using the method we learned with Michelle at the Stix2 training day a few weeks ago. Add some colour from some water based  pens to a sheet of acetate (Project Acetate) & spritz with water before covering with another sheet of acetate. Print onto a piece of white card & you can repeat this until you get the level of colour & pattern you want. The main piece of acetate has been coloured with some Dreamweaver inks using the same method but using the acetate itself to print the image on using an Archival inkpad. I've simply filled the "bubbles" with Candis & coloured the background with Sakura Koi pens.

June

Here's June's page of the Stix2 2016 calendar created last year & I can't believe that we're almost half way through the year already! Fro this I used an 8" x 8" piece of Stix2 white pearl card & sprayed it with a mix of Clearsnap sprays. When dry I printed JGS409 "Floral Vine" from Woodware & highlighted with Sakura Koi water pens. The sentiment comes from FRS149 "Always Remember" which has also been printed onto a piece of Stix2 gold pearl card.

July

Here's my Stix2 calendar page for July & something a bit different this time using yet another great product from the Stix2 versatile range. I've used A4 Clear Printable acetate (S57183) with my inkjet printer. This is a photo of my garden from last summer printed onto the acetate & what a great print!! You need to see it "in the flesh" for the true effect but a lovely translucent reproduction. I've placed a piece of Stix2 white Stardust card under the print which gives a wonderful twinkly effect. The whole thing has been mounted onto a piece of lemon Stardust card & 2 flowers punched from orange Stardust paper have been added to the corners & their centres filled with hot glue from the Hot Melt glue gun with Clear Plastic beads.

August

August is almost on us already & as it's my regular Woodware blog post day on Monday I'm posting this a little early. I wanted a hot bright effect for this months calendar page & I've achieved it (I think!!) with the lovely "Gerbera" stamp from Woodware which I've stamped several times using the very useful Stix2 Masking Sheet (S57268). I've water coloured using Sakura Koi pens & added punches leaves with a few drops of Glossy Accents.

Time for the September page of the Stix2 2016 calendar & for this I've used a sheet of the lovely Stix2 pearl card onto which I've sprayed some Colorbox dye ink sprays. When dry I've over stamped using "Wheat" from Woodware with Versafine Onyx Black. The sentiment comes from "Something to Say" & to add an extra tough I've sprinkled some copper embossing powder randomly & heated for underneath.
