We've gone rustic this week with this screen card. Take a piece of A4 card score on the DL line then turn it around & score again. Fold concertina fashion. Simples! I've printed the lovely "Marigold" stamp twice onto paper from the Heritage pad & coloured with Tombow pens. As you can see this stamp works well either way up & would make great corners for a large card. The sentiment which comes with the set is stamped onto a piece from Vintage 2 & I've layered this onto a piece of brown card which has been embossed with a "wood grain" embossing folder.  I've used the inverted corner punch & some wire to make it look like a plaque (thanks Jan!!) . The background of the card blank has been randomly stamped using the "Netting Background" with Versafine Vintage Sepia & I've softly sponged around all the edges of the panels too.Now attach the stamped panels to the card blank  & add the brads, burlap ribbon & raffia.
Here's a closer look at the panels.

Today at Liberty Craft- Aspects of Design

Happy Thursday everyone & demo day again at Liberty Craft.Today I've been using the new range of stamps from Aspects of Design by Woodware. The stamps I've used today are as follows:-
ADS506 Poppies
ADS103 Butterfly Botanical
ADS505 Shipping Script
Here I've stamped onto cream card with the poppy
first & then over stamped with the script. I then coloured
with Tombow pens & mounted onto a piece from the Perfect
Print paper pad Vintage 2. The sentiment comes from
the poppy set.

Here we have the Butterfly Botanical with the Script stamp
on the background of the card blank. Created simply in black &
white & if you look closely you'll see that I've I've decoupaged the
butterfly in acetate- this meant the dreaded Stazon!!
But I think the end result was worth it! I've added some
touches of silver Stickles just to make it pop.

For my third card I've embossed the butterfly with
Stampendous Aged Wine powder & the purple layer has
been embossed with the script stamp & detail gold powder.

That's all from me for today have a look at the new Aspects of Design stamps at www.woodware.co.uk.

A special card for Mother's Day this week & I've tried out something new. I was at a local craft show recently & I bought some mini "fat quarters" of material which are meant for patchwork. Using DSA (double sided adhesive sheet) I backed a piece with pink paper before peeling off the other protective sheet & laying a piece of material on the top, rubbing firmly to ensure a good bond. I then stamped onto the material using the large outline petal stamp from "Doodle a Flower" & Versafine Onyx Black which works well with material. I've also added some "stamens" from one of the useful little stamps which come with the set. I then cut the individual petals & leaves out & gave then slight shape with a Character shaper. For the background I used the Daisy stencil with Angel Pink on a piece of cream linen card. I just stencilled random areas with a medium brush & stamped one of the small icons from the stamp set with black ink. Layer this onto pink card & attach to card blank.
Now arrange the flower petals (I stamped 5 for each flower) to form 3 large flowers. I've raised the petals slightly using 3D foam pads. Arrange the leaves & add buttons to the centres of the flowers which have tiny scraps of material  threaded through the centres.
The sentiment comes from quite an old Stampendous set "Hugs For All" but lovely words & style for the occasion. To finish I added some tiny dots of Liquid Pearls to the flower stamens.

This week we're joining the Crafty Cardmakers again in their new blog  The Mirror Crack'd & their challenge this time is to produce a Mixed Media Album/Journal cover. My list of "ingredients"  reads like a cast of thousands which I suppose is what mixed media is all about really. I have decided on a garden themed journal (no surprise there!) which I can use to record my experiments, successes......& failures for this season. I started with a plain brown paper covered A5 notebook & covered it with  2 coats of matt white Gesso. I then brayered the Memento & Adirondack inks onto it, aged the edges with Vintage Sepia & left to thoroughly dry. Next I stencilled the wall effect using the Dreamweaver stencil & embossing paste & left that to dry. In the meantime I covered the Chippies corners & a tab (which I think looks like a keyhole) with the Frantage embossing powder which gave a nice aged effect.
Now back to the "wall" & you'll notice that I haven't given the stencil paste the usual smooth finish as I wanted it to be more rough & uneven like real bricks. I used colours from the Kalaidacolour pad to give the wall colour but I didn't replace the stencil as you would normally.
Now came the  stamping which was fun! Firstly I stamped the Netting Background using Vintage Sepia & then went to town with the lovely hedgerow stamps from the Artemio set. The sentiment comes from "Make Time" which has a great design with it but this time I only wanted the words which were so appropriate for my theme. I stamped onto a piece for the Perfect Prints pad (I'm addicted!), cut it out & attached it with Mod Podge. The punched leaves were created from a piece of card which had been randomly painted with Metallic FX colours left to dry & then passed through an embossing folder to give the texture.I splashed some dots of FX over the entire notebook.I gave the entire journal a coat of Mod Podge to seal it & make it more durable & left to dry thoroughly. Lastly I attached the lace, corners & "keyhole", the burlap flowers, buttons, punched maple leaves & twine.
Pop over to The Mirror Crack'd to see what everyone else has been doing & you may like to enter the challenge too.

We have a new topic for you this year as over the coming months there will be a theme each month chosen by one of the design team. To kick us off we have "Sakura Pens" chosen by Francoise Read. I have chosen to use the Metallic range which I feel tend to get a bit over looked. These are richer & as the name suggests have a pearly, metallic finish to them. I've used one of Francoise new stamps sets "Doodle a Flower" which is a fun set to use as it has lots of petals, leaves, stems & little icons some solid, some outline. You can just let your imagination run riot making up your own designs. I've gone with one of the larger outline petal shapes & have masked as I went to over lap the petals & print the stems of the flowers. I then used the pens & let the colours run into each other while the gel was still wet. I've used a red, gold & burgundy for the flowers & 2 shades of green for the leaves. You may get a sketchier more uneven finish but I think for this particular design it fits. I've used the stem to print the pattern onto the card blank itself. The sentiment comes for Jane Gill's new set  "Everyday Verse" which has some lovely sentiments for every occasion. To finish I've simply mounted the images onto brown card before attaching to the card blank & adding the brown ribbon.
