Yeah sorry I'm doing Christmas again! Well there's all these lovely new stamps from Woodware & Stampendous & I'm just itching to play with them! Our mission this week is "something with a bit of engineering" to quote our illustrious leader, Dorothy i.e Funny Folds  (the theme for this week that is not Dorothy! )   I've made a "kinetic card" which is fun to play with & has a lot of potential once you have the mechanics right. I've started with an A4 sheet & I think you'll be able to see from the  photo below how to achieve the blank.

OK? If you want any more help call in at Japonica & we have some copies of the template we'd be happy to let you have.

For the stamping I have used Versafine & embossed with clear powder. The colour is provided by the Artquest Mica palettes & I have chosen colours which compliment the colours of the Rhinestone border. The clear embossing "holds" the thick pearly paint in place so that you maintain a solid black outline. Both stamps used are the new season single stamps & both are background/samplers. Some of you may have seen me used Christmas Quilt in my demo the week before last (whiz over to my demo page, click on Deb's Demos over on the left side bar) & it certainly is a versatile stamp. This time I've chopped it up & used it as the main feature & as icons on their own too. The left hand centre panel is the other single stamp from Jane Gill "Many Christmases" which I have printed with Birthstone & again just used a piece of it. Now just add the bling! I just love these s/a sparkly borders there are some pretty pearly ones too. That's all for this week bye for now!

WOYWW 220

Morning everyone hope all's well in your world today. Here's my desk & I've been having a great time with my new Gelli plate. So you can see my first attempts which I was really pleased with now I'm itching to get more stencils & try other techniques- think it's going to be addictive!! Won't have too much time to play until next week but I've got a long car journey this weekend to dream up ideas.
Here's a closer look at 2 of my favourite results. Think the slant of sunlight gives it extra effect!

Here's a look at the finished bunting I was working on last week for sis in law's birthday bash this weekend- hope it doesn't rain!! Bye for now see you next week.

When you think of your girlfriends & time spent with them what do you think of? A glass (or three!) of wine? Chocolate? Shopping? Shared "power surges"? Or maybe all of the above!! I've had one of my turns this week & gone stamping mad again! Once I started I couldn't stop & just kept thinking of another & another stamp which would suit our theme  this week so well.
I've made a little "handbag" from Basil a papers which I have stamped with Paisley Spring & decorated with Candies (the flower fastener is made from Candies too), pearls, strips of contrasting papers cut with the Fingerguard trimmer & pinking blade & Sakura pens.

Inside I've made a little fun scrapbook which I hope would make the recipient smile. I cut 3 4" lengths from the basil paper & joined them together to make a concertina book. The individual panels are self explanetry - just enjoy!!

The surprise  inside!

Couldn't put it better myself!

The surprises unfold!

My sentiments exactly!
Strike a cord anyone?!!

How true!!

Hope you enjoyed this fun project & that it inspired you to get those stamps out! Bye for now I'd love a comment just to prove I'm not talking to myself!!

Here's my second offering for Blog hop week. A simple  monochromatic design using the double glitter method in conjunction with the stencil. Cut a piece of card slightly bigger than the stencil & cover with a piece of DSA sheet. Give the stencil a light rub with some soap to stop it from sticking too hard to the sheet .Place on the card piece & cover with black glitter, shake off giving a tap on the back to remove excess. Carefully remove stencil & cover the remaining sticky area with crystal glitter. Trim the image & layer onto mats of black & white card. Attach to card blank & simply finish with peel off sentiment & black pearls.

It's blog hopping time again & this week we're joining up with those talented ladies from Dreamweaver.
I have used my stencil with embossing paste for the main image so for those of you who aren't familiar with this technique who better to tell you all about it than the Dream Team.

Using Embossing Paste with Brass Stencils

This technique looks especially nice on dark card stock. It has a sharper edge to it than either dry or thermal embossing and, like dry embossing, it can also be stenciled with color. When iridescent powders are added to the regular embossing paste, the embossing almost has an "Indian sandpainted" look to it.

1. When using embossing paste on the brass stencils, you need to work quickly, because the paste sets up in 20-40 minutes and you don't want it to dry into the fine bridgework of the brass stencils.

2. Make sure you are working on a hard flat surface and the stencil needs to be flat against the surface, because, if it is bent, the paste will pull under the bridges and smear.

3. Tape out the edges well with removable tape.

4. Pick up the paste on the bottom of the metal palette knife and smooth over the stencil's cut out areas as if applying icing to a cake. Now the paste on the stencil is about 1/8"- 1/4" thick. At this point, scrape off the excess paste until all the holes are filled evenly and the stencil surface is smooth.

5. Immediately take off the tape and pick up the stencil from the paper--lifting it off in a straight up manner as much as possible. It is important to clean the stencil off immediately, so drop it into a pan of water until you have time to scrub it with a vegetable or nail brush. If there is a film or residue of paste on the stencil, use a rubber stamp cleaner that removes permanent inks. Apply it generously and scrub with a dry paper towel.

6. Set aside the paste project for 20-40 minutes and, when dry, put the cleaned stencil back in place and stencil with a variety of mediums.

When my embossing was thoroughly dry I replaced the stencil & covered the image with Versamark. Remove the stencil again & then, using a fine dry paint brush highlight the image using mica powders. Dust away all excess powder carefully. This piece was then mounted onto a piece of pink card & eventually attached to the centre panel of the card blank.
Dreamweaver  stencils are great to use with Cuttlebug or any die cutting system in conjunction with a silicone mat & that's just what I have done with the left & right panels using silver mirror card & I've mounted these onto pink card also.
Before adding any of the panels to the card blank add a strip of DSA sheet across the centre of the card & remove the top protective strip. Now attach all the images & any embellishments before covering the remaining sticky surfaces with crystal glitter.
To finish I've punched some holly leaves from pink paper & used with the Glitterdomes, added a line of ribbon at the top & bottom & lastly the peel off sentiment.

Here's a closer look at the panels

We have the second of our Woodware Retailer's monthly challenges this week& it's hosted by none other than our own hugely talented Jan Caudrelier. Jan has chosen a song title for her theme & it's "A Wonderful World" which gives us all kinds of scope.
I've been itching for a chance to use this gorgeous, majestic lion stamp from Stampendous for ages & this theme just fits the bill.
Start by creating some  background using direct to paper technique with the earthy colours from the Colorbox Queues. I had my stamp close by as I did this some that I could see where I needed the sky etc. Set this piece aside to dry thoroughly while  you prepare the card blank.
I've used an A5 ivory linen  card & I've created the background using a piece of Magic Foam & some grasses from my garden to create my own unique stamp. Head on over to Jan's blog www.japonicajan.blogspot.com where you will find out all about using magic foam as she was using it to create some fab designs in her demo on Thursday morning. We will also be having a week devoted to the use of Magic foam in a few weeks time so watch out for that. It's a great fun product to use which tend to be a little over looked but you can create some gorgeous designs with it. anyway I digress (as usual)!
When you direct to paper is dry stamp the Lion onto it using Versafine Onyx Black & emboss with clear powder. Next colour the lion & his surroundings with the Tombow pens to make him really stand proud.I have layered the lion onto a piece of dark brown card & I have separated the crown & quotation & embossed that at the right hand side of the layer.
Now all that's left to do is to attach the image to the card blank using 3d foam tape & add the Candis.

Next week we'll be having Christmas blog hop with the creative folks at Dreamweaver so make sure you drop by & take a look.
I'll be kicking off the Christmas season with some new Woodware & Stampendous stamps for my demo at Japonica on Thursday morning so drop in & see what's new. Bye for now.
It would be great if you could leave a comment I'd love to hear from you.

Our challenge this month is to use 1 image, 2 patterned papers & 3 embellishments. No problem, especially with the new Perfect Prints paper pads which are fantastic value & come in a great variety of colour ways. I have used the "Huge Thanks" single stamp from Francoise Read for my image & then paper pieced using 2 contrasting papers. Just stamp onto the base card & then onto the 2 chosen papers too. Simply cut out alternate letters & re assemble onto the base so that you have all the detailing already there for you. Accentuate the overlapping areas on the image with Sakura pens. Add the ribbon to the card blank before attaching the design with some 3d foam tape. Finish by adding the Candis & picking out the accents on the stamped image with Liquid Pearls. Simple!
