Wedding Fever

Weddings, weddings! They're all around us at the moment aren't they? I just love the wedding season as I'm in my element when designing stationery or personalised cards. Here are a few that I've designed lately.

Scrapbooking again!

Here's a scrapbook page that I did at work yesterday using another of the new Magenta papers (Emotions Peace). It features my godson Nick having a tender moment with his newly born nephew William. The colours in the photo worked beautifully with the colours of the paper & the sentiments from Stampendous are great for scrapbooking as well as  cardmaking. Add in a little random stamping & some cork for a great blokey feel.

I'm chuffed!

I received this month's copy of Cardmaking & Papercraft a few days ago & was delighted to find that I was a winner in a competition to design a wedding invitation. I entered when Royal Wedding fever was  among us which prompted me to chose a red, ivory, navy & gold theme. here's my winning entry

Sakura coloured pencils
Woodware cork sheet
Woodware Fingerguard trimmer
Pinking blade
Francoise peel off "Tiny Words"
1" Woodware punch Monsterra leaf

This week's theme brings us a little of the summer that we have been sadly lacking of late! I've used some beautiful Stampendous cling stamps again (I fear I'm becoming addicted!) & trimmed the edges of my layering using Figerguard trimmer with the pinking blade to give a suggestion of waves. The cork sheets really introduce a sandy look & I just love the "Breathe" sentiment. It really has you smelling that salty air doesn't it? you can almost hear those waves lapping!!

This weeks theme was just for me pink & pretty (the card not me!) I've chosen to use a technique that I haven't done for a while & that's intaglio enamelling. Ink up a square of mount board with clear sticky ink & build up 3 layers of enamelling adding the coloured embossing powders to the last layer. Ink the stamp with the black Versafine & stamp into the enamelling while it's still molten. I have embossed the vellum panel behind the enamelled piece with white & sublty coloured it with soft grey & pink Tombow markers. Silver ribbon,a peel off greeting, daisy chain & pearls add the delicate finish.

I'll be shrinking tomorrow!

It's my turn to demo again tomorrow at Japonica so if you're in the vicinity pop in & say hello.I'll be using the Stampendous Ruffled Butterfly stamp that I used for last week's sketch challenge with the lovely sentiment that went with it. I'll also be exploring different ways to use both stamps including use with shrinky plastic, looks like I'll be having fun again tomorrow!

Manana, manana!!

Time to get away from card making for this week & I've decided  to go back to my second passion- scrapbooking! I've used  2 of the new papers from Magenta for my Spanish theme. As with most Magenta papers they are double sided & I've made full use of both sides of each paper and I think that they compliment each other well. I've used the Chippies alphabet for the lettering which I have sponged with purple & copper ink pads. I have decoupaged the poppies in the bottom right hand corner with sillicone glue & given them a glossy finish with Glossy Accents. With the Magenta swirls, pewter brads & flock border for embellishments my page is complete.

Brilliance Pearlescent Purple
Ivory organza ribbon
Ivory pearl & hammer card
Ivory vellum
All available from Woodware

I can't believe we're at Sketch Challenge No.2 already! This week I've used some pretty Stampendous cling stamps. I've used the Merlot embossing powder set to create the random rainbow effect with the message & butterflies. The butterflies I have embossed onto ivory vellum & cut them out to raise their wings & give them "life". I have used the tip of the butterfly wing to create the frilly effect at the top of the message plaque which I think works pretty well. I find the Woodware anti stat bag invaluable when embossing to make sure that you get a clean print with no speckling. The border using one of the new magenta scrapbook papers in conjuction with the Crafty Edger+ heart cassette, along with the rhinestone brads in lime green & some ivory organza completes the design.

I've gone for an Oriental theme this week & what better "Birthday Wishes" could you send but those of Happiness, Love & Health. I've used the beautiful Micacolour palette to just randomly paint some black card before giving it some texture for the panels. Sakura pens have effectively brought colour to the Oriental pots & then I have added the Japanese sentiments, Magenta border & dragonfly brads for a really Oriental flavour.
