My list of ingredients this week reads like the War & Peace but once I got started on this weeks theme  of "Texture" I just kept thinking of more great products which would be just right for the job. We're well into August now & autumn days just around the corner. I just fell in love with the new stamp from Jane Gill "Woodland Bird" & was itching to use it. Love this new embossing powder too from the Stampendous Frantage range "Rose Gold". Embossed onto brown card was all that was needed really although I did add a little light shading with the pale pink pencil.
The panel you see under the image is created from the Dreamweaver stencil plus red pearl card passed through my Cuttlebug & then lightly sponged with the gold inkpad. The burlap ribbon is attached under that. For the swirls at the top corner of the Hairy Manilla layer I applied the gold embossing paste through part of the mask & then sprinkled the gold, copper & rose gold powders before heating with a heat tool. The leaves have been stamped onto a piece of card which has been given the direct to paper treatment with autumnal shades from some chalk inkpads & then cut out. The leaves & the sentiment, which has been stamped onto a punched piece from the ornate punch, come from "Curly Leaves". The layout has been mounted onto the mirror card before attaching to the cream card blank. To finish add the gems & button.

Housework? What housework?!

Finally some time to sit & do some craft, it's been one of those weeks!! I've been using one of Woodware's new stamps designed by Jane Gill "Curly Sue" & as you can see it's one versatile stamp. I'll talk you through each one.

Stamped onto a background created by laying down some ink from Sakura's Koi water based pens onto Project Acetate from Stix2 spritz with water & print onto card. I've replaced the leaves here with punched holly leaves & the berries are Card Candis. The border comes from Woodware's new dual function border punch.

Here we have the same stamp & same created background. I've coloured with Koi pens & then used my Stix2 glue gun to add hot glue to parts of the berries before adding thje micro beads from one of Stix2's Seed Bee'd & Glitter sets. The leaves come from a Dreamweaver die & the sentiment comes from Craftwork Cards die cut sentiments which are available from Woodware.

Curly Sue again printed onto a piece of Project Acetate from Stix2 which I had spritzed with Dreamweaver alcohol inks. I coloured the leaves with peel off pens & the berries are Sparkler peel offs which have also been coloured with the pens

This stamp by Jane Gill of Woodware is called "Periwinkles" & is one of my favourites. I got a bit carried away with this one! Firstly I coloured the image with the Koi pens & then covered each leaf & petal with hot glue from my Stix2 glue gun. As I went I coated each area with crystal glitter. I added a few dots of Lavender Stickles & the centres of the flowers were given the black Stickles treatment both available from Woodware. I have been using the Stix2 Layer Perfect for all my layering today & as you can see you really do get the perfect layer. the lovely lilac satin ribbon is a Stix2 product also.

Hope you've been having a nice day see you soon!

Oh goody one of my favourite things to do this week; a mechanical design, one with a bit of engineering. This one is called a "box fold" for obvious reasons & quite simple to do even though it looks complicated. The basic rules apply, just get your measurements precise & the folds crisp & clean-simples! Here is how to make the base:-

1. Cut a piece of card measuring 27.5 x 20cm & mark the centre as you are looking at it landscape view. From the left score vertically at 6.5cm, 10cm, 17.5cm & 21cm. Next score horizontal lines 3.5cm from the top & bottom. Cut the rectangles out of each corner. (See template)
2.Cut along the four edges to the 10cm & 17.5cm points. From the centre point (which you marked at the start) score diagonally to the 10 cm & 17.5cm points.
3. Add DS tape (you may want to use the extra sticky one) to the 4 corner flaps.Fold & attach & you will see the box shape form in the centre of your card. Push the diagonally scored fold in & the 2 outer panels fold out to create the box fold.

To decorate I cut 3 pieces of white card, one each for the outer panels  & one for the centre of the card. I used Doodle Daisies & masked the flowers on the outer panels to create a continuous design. I used one flower inside with the stem & sentiment. I coloured with Tombow pens before covering the whole surface of each piece with Versamark ink & embossing with the crystal powder for a glossy, sparkly effect. Now just mount onto the turquoise card & attach to the card blank.
The lacy edges were created with the border punch & white linen paper. Below is the template & a view of the card when closed. It will easily fir into a 6" x 6" envelope.

Time for another "non card" challenge from the ladies at The Mirror Crack'd & this time we've been asked to either make or decorate a mask. Well I've taken the easy option & decorated a paper mache mask available from Sarah at Liberty Craft. I started by giving it a coat of acrylic paint  & then when that was dry I sponged softly with the gold inkpad. Next I applied the Brilliance colours through the mask. Previously I had pasted the gecko twice onto white tissue paper using glossy black paste & left to dry. When the mask was prepared I carefully tore around the geckos getting as close to the outline as I could & then pasted them onto the face with glue. The tissue virtually disappears  & leaves the image where you want it.I punched leaves from the paper pads & gold card with the beech punch  before gluing to the top of the head. To complete the face I added some false eyelashes (I knew those freebies from a mag would come in handy one day!) some S/A gems from the Cluster set & some gold peel offs. Why not pop over to The Mirror Crack'd to see what they have come up with for their challenge.

We're making a "Welcome to your New Home" card this week & these 2 look like they have just set up home together. I've coloured with Tombows & surrounded the owly pair with punched oak leaves. The background is created with the mask & sponged with 2 shades from the chalk inkpads. The words come from another Francoise Read set "Tall House". To make the sign I've just rounded the corners with a corner rounder & used a cocktail stick.
