It's "Hobby" week & there's a great selection of hobby & activity stamps to be found in Woodware's new season of stamps. Now I'm going to confess here that this project you see today is one which I taught in a workshop a few weeks ago but I thought I'd share it with you now. Here's what I did......

1.     Die cut a portion of a circle from the right front of the card blank from corner to corner. Using the print of an old ordnance survey map provided cut to measure allowing a border of approx 1cm to show on the card blank at the top & bottom of the piece. Don’t forget that you will need a piece left to punch a circle. Die cut the right hand edge as you did for the card blank. Now line up the map & trim a border at the left hand edge.
2.     Dust the entire surface of the card blank with a blend of blue inks including the exposed part circle on the inside of the card so that you have an inked area inside.
3.    Dust the map piece with brown inks to “age”. Attach to front of card blank. Randomly print footprints from “Walking Boots” with  & add foliage from “Herbs”. Add brads to left hand corners.
4.     Using the piece of canvas & Brilliance print “Rucksack”. Colour with pencils taking time & care over shading. Cut out & mount to card blank with foam pads/tape.
5.     Stamp “Walking Boots” onto shrink plastic with Stazon. Colour softly & lightly with coloured pencils. Don’t forget the colours will darken when heated & shrunk. Cut out boots.
6.     Dust boots with an anti stat pad to prevent sticking. Using a heat tool shrink the plastic. When shrunk flatten with an acrylic block while still pliable.
7.     Punch a 3” circle from the remains of the map. Age with brown ink. Print sentiment towards the top of the smaller circle & dust with brown ink. Attach to larger circle with foam pads. Attach boots to the bottom of smaller circle. Attach the whole piece at the left hand edge only to front of card blank to protrude over inner inked part circle.
8.     Attach Hessian to inside right edge of card blank.

Boys will be boys this week & which boy doesn't enjoy a cheeky bottle of wine?! With Father's day not far away this makes a great way to enhance your gift with a handmade bottle bag as a keepsake. Woodware do a great range of canvas bags, aprons & other things which are just right to be decorated using masks & Crafters ink pads. I've placed the "Gears" mask over the canvas & randomly applied the inks using large stencil brushes. The sentiment  "Relax" has been stamped onto a piece of Mark Richards Additions jute which is 6" x 6" & comes in a pack of 8.This is great stuff & looks just like linen. All Crafters inks are suggested for use on material (& a lot of other surfaces too) & are colour fast when heat set with an iron. I have frayed the edges of the jute & attached with iron adhesive to the piece of blue denim material. This has also been ironed onto the bottle bag. To finish I've die cut some gears from metal sheet & attached to the rope tie which is included  with the bottle bag & added some buttons.

This week we're looking at a rather nice technique which I used in a demo a few weeks ago & that is using punch craft to fill or part fill an aperture. I have gate folded a square card & die cut a half circle out of each half to form a full circle in the centre. I have inked the inside of the card & the front & then used the mask to add some dimension. The message has been stamped onto a punched circle which has also been inked. The stamping comes from "Meadow Flowers" which I have softly coloured with Koi pens. I have used the daisy punch for the flowers which have been attached all around the edges of the circle & then I added a few more by attaching them to the petals of the others. To add some colour I've added some punched beech leaves & the Perfect Pearls to the centres of the flowers.

This week we're celebrating Jane Gill's Bubble Bloom series of stamps. I've used "Melanie" which was launched in the spring of this year. I've stamped onto a piece of card which I've softly sponged with some chalk inkpads. After this I've coloured the image with the Koi pens & covered the "Bubbles" with Glossy Accents. To finish add the ribbon & mount onto the spotty background. The sentiment is included with the stamp set.
