Easter may feel a little way off yet but time to think about some Easter cards. I've made a twisted easel card this week which for those of you who haven't made one aren't as complicated as they look. Here's how:-

1. Take a 8" x 8" square of card & fold in half. Cut from centre (i.e 4" in) to the fold with a ruler & craft knife.
2. Fold the cut panels diagonally back from the centre to the edges- like the lapels of coat! Now you have your base card!
3. Cut 2 x 4" squares of card which will be the base for your stamped images & will attach to the folded down triangles. The card will fold flat to go into a DL sized envelope.

I have used the delightful Bluebird Branch which is an older stamp from Stampendous but one of my favourites & it really has a spring like feel to it. I've stamped with Brilliance Graphite Black onto a die cut oval & coloured with pencil. The stamp which I've used for the Easter greeting is also a Stampendous one but obsolete  now I'm afraid- sorry!! I'e rouded all corners with the corner rounder.
For the base of the card I've used one of the pretty papers from the Perfect prints pad. The "stoppers" for the top panels have been punched with the circle punch & decorated with some punched flowers. A bow of organza ribbon cunningly hides the join in the paper!
To finish the design I've added some punched flowers & leaves & embellished with the Elements & Stickles.

We're celebrating a Silver Wedding this week which is handy as it's ours later in the year!! I've used one of the brand new stamps from Jane Gill's Bubble Bloom range which I think is very elegant. I've stamped with Versafine & clear embossed before adding some subtle colour to the leaves using silver & green Brilliance. I mounted the image onto black & then silver mirror card  before attaching to the card blank. I then added the peel off messages & the silver ribbon- this is great as you can make it curl with the blades of your scissors. Lastly came the fun part with filling in all the "bubbles" with the s/a gems & Stickles. I suppose this is a bit girlie to give Mr Frosty for our anniversary- do you think he'd notice?!

We're doing something special for grandparents this week for those still lucky enough to have them. I've chosen this cute owl stamp from Francoise Read with the wise old Grandad owl & the silly young one! Paper piecing (not to be confused with piercing!!) all the way with this design & the Perfect Prints paper pads are just, well......perfect!! Chose your complimentary papers, including the one which you intend for the background & stamp the image on each before cutting out the relevant parts. What's great with this technique is that if you are careful with your cutting out you have several other cards to make with all the other pieces. Now piece them back together on the background piece. The set as always comes with some great icons & sentiments some of which you see here in the background of the design. I've punched a shape with the Ornates Brackets punch & made up the message with peel off letters. I've highlighted the owls' eyes with an orange Sakura Stardust pen also the hearts in the background. To finish I've added some raffia to the back of the sentiment & some faux stitching around the edge of the craft card blank.

Hello again & Happy New Year, hope you had a great festive season. Isn't it great to get crafting again with something which isn't red/gold/green/glittery!! We're kicking off the year with the monthly sketch challenge & I must confess to a little cheating on this one! I did create this background when I was demonstrating a few weeks ago & didn't get to use it so.... seemed a shame to waste it! I used the Creative Palette with acrylic paints & spread with a brayer. I "removed" some of the paint with a lacy paper doily & the leaf stamp. After leaving to dry thoroughly I over stamped with the stamp & Brilliance & then added some contrasting colour with Tombow pens. I punched some circles & cut some strips for the sketch before assembling the sketch pattern on the card blank. To finish add the peel off sentiment & the rainbow Elements. Here's a closer look at the background why not play along, you could win a prize!!
