We're having a Frantage fest this week &  at last I got to use the gorgeous Snowy Postcard stamp from Stampendous which I have been saving for this theme. I've stamped the image 3 times, twice with Deep Lagoon ( so that I could cut out the holly leaves to decoupage)  & once with Smoky Grey. As you will see I have then cut out & layered the pieces together. I then coated the whole piece with Versamark & embossed with Crystal powder  for a really glistening, icy look.  Next I layered this onto a piece of white which  I had sponged lightly around the edges with a blue inkpad. The next step was to frame the image with the Aged Silver powder before building up some chunky areas with the rest of the Frantage products & the Frantage method of heating from under the card. If you go to "You Tube" you will see Fran Seiford herself do some great demos using all the Frantage products. I covered the card blank with the silver pearl card &  attached the image. Pearl mica flakes were then added around the edges & a bow using a piece of the new wide organza ribbon from Woodware. The sentiment  comes from "Tis the Season" & I have embossed the edges of this too with Aged Silver & a few flakes of Shaved Ice.

My recycled items are:-
Gold card
Red paper
Bubblewrap
Brown paper
String

Now I don't know about you but my Gran always saved every piece of brown paper, every rubber band, every piece of string. I think it was a habit acquired during the war years  & I suspect that I have inherited it! Our project this week is to "Upcycle & Re-Use" so I've raided my box of treasures that I just knew that I'd find a used for one day - we all have one of those don't we? What did you say? A whole craft room full?!! The gold card which you will see at the left of the card was saved from last years Christmas crackers. We had some posh crackers & I had everyone carefully saving their gold bits- couldn't let such lovely textured bling end up in the bin! The red paper came from a shop bought greeting card which I was given .All my nearest & dearest never write on an envelope or seal it down before they give it to me because I just might have a use for it! I wrapped some bubblewrap around an acrylic block & inked it with the gold inkpad before printing onto the red paper. It gives quite an interesting result which I shall probably use again. The Doodle Tree is printed onto the good old brown paper &embellished with the Stickles & metals. At the top of the card you will see a piece of the craft card which I have stamped with Versamark using the snowflakes from the Doodle Tree set. Now just add some string & heart brads & our recycling is done!

Here's a closer look at my printed paper

We're using a monochrome theme this week in shades of red & not as most people have come to expect, black & white. I've used an older Magenta stamp this week but one of my favourites the Poinsettia. I've stamped firstly on to a piece of red card using Moonlight White & then onto the vellum using Satin Red (this will take a little time to dry or you can carefully help it on it's way with a heat tool). I have shaded the leaves on the red piece using a coloured pencil & emphasised some of the design with a Sakura matt white gel pen. Then cut out the flower from the vellum piece & decoupage onto the red piece. I've highlighted the centre with some red Stickles. The greeting from the "Tis the Season" set has also been stamped with Satin Red. To finish I have added some small pieces from the new Mark Richards pearl flourish border, some polka dot ribbon, a holly flourish dye cut & some 3mm pearls.

Our theme this week is "Vintage Christmas" &I've chosen one of the new Christmas stamps from Stampendous which I think is just adorable. I also get to continue with my love for all things "Frantage" too. I have covered the card blank with a piece of beige parchment  which I have stamped down the right hand side with the Calligraphy stamp & gold inkpad also on the black frame.I have given the corners the Frantage treatment using Aged Gold powder,Mica flakes & glass glitter. For the main stamped piece I have taken a piece of white card & given it some direct to paper inking with a mix of beige, pale yellow & orange chalk inkpads. I have stamped First Christmas onto this using Versafine Onyx Black. The Sacred Silhouette stamp has been embossed onto black card using Detail gold powder, cut out & mounted with 3D foam tape. To finish I have added a peel off star to light the way to Bethlehem!

It's sketch challenge time again & I've chosen a stamp ( which sadly I think is now discontinued) which I used in the early part of this year when we covered the theme "Winter Wonderland". I've given it a completely different look this time as I have cut it into sections to adapt to the sketch. Just print 3 times & divide the prints into 3 even but very different sections. As you will see I have just extended the hills & slopes to 2 sections with a fine black pen. I have coloured with Tombow pens & highlighted the snowy areas with the glue pen & glitter. The sentiment comes from Christmas Verses which was one of last years very popular Christmas sets. I have punched some holly leaves form some scraps of Magenta papers & added some buttons as my berries which tone with the colours of the card.

Here is the original sketch- go on have a go!!

Why not pop into Japonica to see this design "in the flesh"!
