We have a black & white theme this week & I've been itching to use this canvas for quite a while now so I've gone for a mixed media project. Woodware stock a wide variety of quality artists box canvases from Royal Talens but this one is a flat canvas & came from my cupboard of curiosities where it has been languishing for a while.
I started by giving the canvas a coat of white gesso & when it was dry I glued on the Chippies. I gave the whole thing another coat of gesso & left it to dry thoroughly. I then took the Bloom mask & spread the black gesso quite thickly over it. I left this to dry overnight as there are some very thick areas which give great texture. Next I took the 2 Doobadoo masks & using a stencil brush I applied some "Stone" Crafters ink to form a random background over the canvas & the Chippies too. "Love Collage" & the letters are stamped onto some white tissue paper, torn around the edges & then applied to the canvas with PVA glue. I glued the burlap trim onto the corner of the canvas & this was given the white gesso treatment too. I die cut the leaves from some black card & then passed them all through an embossing folder to give some texture. As a finishing touch I gave some areas a light touch of the Metallic Wax Patina & the metal rose came from an old necklace. I'm really pleased with the result & enjoyed putting this together.
