A design with a "pop" of colour is usually a monochromatic effect to which has been added just a dash of bright colour. Here we have one of the new "Whimsicals" from Jane Gill & fast becoming one of my favourites. I've stamped with black ink & coloured the flower & leaves with 2 shades of grey. The butterflies have been stamped onto some spare card, colored & cut out before adding to the design to add the "pop". I've added some spotty ribbon before mounting onto black card & attaching to the card blank which has had the sentiment from the set stamped onto it.

Stix2 Mount n Stamp Foam

Here's a great way to make your own stamps from your favourite dies using a fab product from Stix2 called Mount & Stamp Foam. It's designed  for use on unmounted rubber stamps but if you run it through your die cutting system using a fairly solid die you can create your own stamps very easily. Here I've used the platform die from the Sizzix Bigshot Plus starter kit & the foam cuts very easily. You will find that there is a "cling" side to the foam, which is the side which will attach to your acrylic block & a very sticky side which is the side you will stamp with. To remove the sticky just wipe with Stix2 Adhesive remover. For the designs below I've stamped onto a gingham background using Memento inkpads.

September is the time of "mists & mellow fruitfulness" as summer is drawing to a close & the hedges are full of berries waiting to be harvested. I thought of berries when I looked at the new Bubble Bloom "Linda" from Jane Gill. I've stamped the image at each corner of the card & randomly coloured with the Koi pens & then covered each "berry" with Glossy Accents. You could achieve the same effect by using Sakura Gelly Roll Glaze pens & letting the colours bleed into each other while still wet. I've printed the sentiment which comes with the set onto a piece of torn vellum to try to create a misty look across the centre. I've inked a spare piece of card with autumn colours & punched some maple leaves to add to the design before mounting onto red card & attaching to the card blank which has been edged with some green ink.

It's sketch challenge time from Woodware so I've chosen this new one from Jane Gill which could just as well be used for a new home card or even someone going on their travels! I've stamped the post box on some red card & cut it out but I also stamped the signs on the front of the box onto some parchment paper. The sketch background is made up of the gorgeous papers from the Christmas Cheer pad. The greeting & the letters come from the stamp set too & to finish I 've added some Christmas Card Candi.

Traditional Christmas... what does that make you think of! Santa? Bethlehem? Reindeer?
The thing that popped into my mind is "the tree" so I chose the lovely new set from Jane Gill. There are 2 sizes of trees & the one I've used here is the larger of the 2. This was quite a quick & simple card but I think quite elegant in it's simplicity. The top layer has been embossed with a snowflake embossing folder & then the french window die cut into the centre of it. I stamped the tree with dark green ink & coloured the pot with a pencil. I then positioned it behind the window using 3D foam tape & "decorated" it with peel off Sparklers. I've been a bit sneaky with the sentiment which has been stamped onto a punched label. The sentiment comes with the stamp set but is in a horizontal line so I masked each word with stencil tape & printed individually one word above the other. To finish I added a double organza bow & a Glitterdome in each corner.

It's time to join the ladies from Crafty Cardmakers for their regular challenge & the theme this week is " By or Under the Sea".  I've pulled out the peel offs this week & I'd forgotten how nice they are to use apart from just for sentiments. Firstly I took some acetate & dropped various colours from the Dreamweaver Color Solutions which are alcohol based & dry quickly on acetate. I placed another piece of acetate on the top & gently moved the colours around so that they blended into each other. When dry I placed my fishy peel offs where I wanted them & cut out. To create the background on the card blank & place the mask in various positions & gently dusted some blue ink with a large stencil brush. The fish were mounted onto the punched circles with some clear 3D pads & then I added the sea plants & bubbles to form rocks to the background & coloured with the Sakura pens. To finish I added the punched circle bubbles which were given the Stickles treatment, the peel off words & used the pearl pen to highlight the fish.

Pop over to Crafty Cardmakers to see what their design team have been up to!

Our challenge this week is that you can never have too many gems & bling! Well can you?!
I've certainly ended up with a very glittery Christmas tree. I've used one of the new stamps from Francoise Read  "Mosaic Tree" & coloured with pencils. If you're ever in the mood for some therapeutic colouring in then this is the stamp for you! I've cut it out & mounted it with 3D foam pads onto a  coordinating background  using one of the new "Patched" stamps from Francoise. Then came the fun part- go mad with all the gems!
