It's Dreamweaver week this week -I just love that name don't you? I've created a card & co- ordinating bookmark this week using stencils, embossing paste & Mica powders & Memory Mists. I have used the same stencil for the main image in conjuction with the black embossing paste & Mica powders & again with Memory Mists for a softer muted effect on the bookmark. Secure the stencil to a piece of white card using masking tape & apply a layer of the embossing paste with the flat of a pallet  knife to cover the entire stencil then remove the excess. Carefully remove the stencil & leave the image to dry. Place the stencil over the image when dry & apply Mica powders. The birthday greeting was created in the same way. I have then layered the image onto black & white card & embellished with gold satin ribbon before layering onto purple card. I've made a gift pocket on the right hand side of the card to insert the bookmark. I have used  a piece of black card for the bookmark & spitzed over the stencil with Metallic Silver & Bright Gold Memory Memory Mists which as you can see produce some beautiful  vey different colour effects on the black card. Ribbons & dragonfly & butterfly Sparkers finish off the effect.

It's nearly "that" time again isn't it & I just had the urge to go Christmassy! I know a lot of our regular craft customers have been hard at work producing Christmas cards for a long while now but I'm still hankering after the idea of a summer! I've used the lovely Magenta cling set of stamps this week which work so well together or individually. Our theme this week was to produce some "Funny Folds" & I hope that I have suceeded in this mission (although they don't make me laugh!). I have used the different panels & areas to show off the lovely double sided Magenta paper which partners the set of stamps beautifully. I will be demonstrating this card fold in Japonica in a few weeks time plus one or two others too  but if you want detailed instructions in the mean time please let me know. I have used the Sakura metallic gel pens to colour the stamped images using a water colour technique. I think this creates a rich theme which works well with the colours of the paper. The gold peel off helps to link all the differnet areas together. Time to get your Christmas crafting started!!

Stampendous Stamp n' Stuff Rainbow Crystal embossing powder

The theme this week was "Take 2 Colours" which proved to be typically difficult for a Piscean like me! Should it be lemon & brown? Pink & blue? Purple & orange? Decisions, decisions! I think my final choice has turned out to be quite striking & effective. I have used one of the lovely Stampendous sentiment stamps for my centre piece which I have stamped onto the green side of the Magenta paper using the navy inkpad & embossed with the rainbow powder. I have rounded off the top right hand corner of the card blank (using a dinner plate) & lined the card with the Delicate Posies paper. I've used the Maidenhair Fern punch to create a delicate trailing vine effect around the curved edge of the card & the Crafty edger for a border at the bottom. The pretty flourishes produced by the Crafty edger provide neat embellishments & I've finished off with some s/a diamates coloured with a blue permanet pen. Hope you like the result!

Another day, another demonstration(but a very peaceful one!!).

It's been my turn to demonstrate at Japonica & what a busy old day it's been. Of course we have a lot of holiday visitors in Exmouth just now & a lot of crafty ladies seeking us out. You can see that they are in heaven to discover a new craft shop while on their hols as well! Today I've been re working some of the sketches that we have had so far as our challenges but using totally different stamps & products than I did with my original design. I was using 2 sets of Clear Magic stamps designed by our own Francoise Read. They are Flower Doodles & Birdsong & I have used a Magenta double sided scrapbook paper to compliment them -Dancing Butterflies available from.http://www.woodware.co.uk/ I watercoloured using Sakura stardust gel pens for Flower Doodles card & Sakura metallics for Birdsong with the Crafty Edger's Antique Floral & Fans cassettes to provide embellishment. Hope you like the results.

Look at the size of my hollyhock!

Even with our disappointing summer my fledgling garden has done really well. My hollyhock (which started life in a bag from Poundland) was newly planted in February & it's just a picture at the moment. I was a bit concerned during the heavy winds we had at the weekend by it stood up to it valiantly- with a bit of staking by David of course! My very favourites, my fuchsias  just continue to flourish even though they started as just plug plants this year. As for the hollyhock we're wondering if there is a giant at the top with a pot of gold or was that a beanstalk...........!
